Welcome to the Anglican Parish Church of St Aidan
Skelmanthorpe, HD8 9AF
We are part of the Deanery of Kirkburton, in the Huddersfield Episcopal Area (The Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs, Bishop of Huddersfield), in the Anglican Diocese of Leeds formerly West Yorkshire and the Dales (The Rt Revd Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds).
We are only a small middle-of-the-road village Church. There's nothing grand or special about us, but we would love to see you if you would like to visit us - our Mass is moderate High Church, our Altars are eastward facing. We usually meet at 10.00am; but often on the first Sunday of the month we have a 9.30am traditional Sung Mass (based upon the 1662 Book of Common Prayer) followed at 11.00am by Contemporary informal worship. You might wish to know that the altar-bread used in our Church is gluten-free
Our Sunday Club for young families is at 9.00am on the third Sunday of the month; and Messy Church at 4.00pm on third Saturday of the month. You can check details on the 'Calendar' (and also the 'Services kalendar') page of this website.
If you belong to another Faith (or have no faith) you are welcome to join us as an observer, with no obligation.
We share the views of HH Pope Francis who states that mothers are welcome to feed their babies in the Sistine Chapel. We do not claim that our church is quite as magnificent as the Papal Chapel; but nursing mothers are welcome, along with all people, in our Church as well!
We are delighted to proclaim that God loves you, no matter who you are or what you have done. God's love for you and every creature is utter, total and never, never ceases.
The Parish of St Aidan is pleased to have links with Skelmanthorpe Methodist Church on Pilling Lane, thus we are part of CTiSk (Churches Together in Skelmanthorpe)
Our Church welcomes friendly dogs if they are under control
NB: (from 30/04/2017) It would be both a ''gaff'' and a ''con'' to allow a Gafcon Bishop or Archbishop to lead worship in our Church, so we won't - but s/he would be very welcome as a visitor if they agreed not to interfere in our ministry. We welcome all people including the LGBT community
