We have various cultural and fun events from time to time in Church - and see below for regular events.
On Saturday 29th September 2018 at 2.45pm we host a Prayer Book Service in church, followed by refreshments. There is much of delight in modern contemporary Church liturgies, but we would lose much if we neglected the ancient, beautiful and meaningful services of the Church. As always at any of our services visitors of any faith or no faith (or indeed gender, sexuality, etc, and so on) are welcome without obligation - as indeed are friendly dogs under control.
Saturday 6th October 2018 at 7.00pm will be Quiz Fundraising & Social Evening in church, with prizes and hot meal for the ticket price of £10.50.
On Sunday 7th October 2018 at 3.30pm the dedication of our church completion project will take place, led by the Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs, Bishop of Huddersfield; with light refreshments. We shall be delighted to have the new kitchen, internal loo's and all-accessible south entrance door, as well as the more dignified re-siting of our ancient font. Please kindly sign the list in church or let Philip know (email@example.com - 07805 509469) if you wish to attend.
On Saturday 10th November 2018 at 2.30pm and 7.00pm members of the community, including young people, are staging a performance in church to Commemorate the Centenary of the ending of World War I (as was done with a great production four years ago to commemorate the beginning of that war). Tickets: £8.00 adults, £3.00 young people aged 3 to 16, under 3 yrs free.
On Wednesday 14th November 2018 at 7.00pm you are welcome to our Church Fun Auction & bar at Skelmanthorpe Cricket Club with faith supper: please let us know in advance if you would like to come.
On Saturday 1st December 2018 at 2.30pm you are welcome to our Church Community Youth Drama and Singing Group Christmass production.Free entrance, but you are welcome to give donations for the light refreshments. This production may be slightly smaller than usual since we have also been involved with the rehearsals for the November WWI commemoration.
Our Community Youth Drama & Singing Group meets on most Thursdays in church from 6.30pm until 7.30pm. The group is free to join; and our intention is to provide relaxed enjoyment without pressure. We normally welcome interest from young people six years or older. Just turn up on a Thursday or feel free to contact Philip, parish priest, on firstname.lastname@example.org or 07805 509469 for more details. Their Summer performance is on Saturday 30th June 2018 at 2.30pm.
You might also enjoy the Toddler Group in church on Tuesday mornings between 9.45am & 11.15am in school term time. It is free, no subscription, but donations welcome for refreshments. Please feel free to check with us when the Toddler Group is meeting; but you do not have to book, just turn up.
On the Second Saturday of each month Come and enjoy coffee or tea, with cakes. A chance to sit down, relax and socialise with friends. Carers and those they care for are very welcome. The church is open from 9.30am until 12.30pm for viewing, and friendly dogs under control can join us then.
We also run a Sunday Club for children at 9.00am usually on the third Sunday of the month (but check beforehand); and 'Messy Church' meets on the third Saturday of the month at 4.00pm for families - this is for creative activities (hence 'messy'!), a short time of worship, and tea.
By the way, the completion work in our church is well underway: providing an all-ability new entrance door, fully accessible loo's and a proper kitchen area (all at the back of church) which will be a great boon to our community events, etc. If you wish to help with a donation towards this project then you might wish to BACS a donation to the account of Skelmanthorpe St. Aidans PCC - Sort code 20-43-04 - Account No. 40016454. If you do that then please kindly email me at email@example.com so we know where the donation has come from; and tax-payers are welcome to request a gift-aid form to increase their donation by 25% at no extra cost to themselves.
Further details of our events can be found on the 'Calendar' and 'Services Kalendar' pages, and also the weekly Church news sheet. Please check nearer the time to confirm that circumstances have not changed an event.

Our Mothers' Union Branch often meets on the second Wednesday of the month. You do not have to be a member of the Mothers' Union to share in their sessions
