Praying at Home
Prayers
Let us pray to God the Father who has reconciled all things to himself in Christ.
For peace among the nations, that God may rid the world of violence and let peoples grow in justice and harmony
For those who serve the public good, for everyone in their daily work
For Christian people everywhere, that we may live out our faith in Christ in word and deed
For those who suffer from hunger, sickness or loneliness that the presence of Christ may bring them health and wholeness
Let us commend ourselves and all for whom we pray to the mercy and protection of God.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Pray this blessing for everyone at church and all those you love and care for
The peace of God,
which passes all understanding,
keep our hearts and minds
in the knowledge and love of God,
and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among us and remain with us always. Amen.
Prayers for the Morning
As we rejoice in the gift of this new day,
so may the light of your presence, O God.
Set our hearts on fire with love for you
now and for ever Amen
Blessed are you, creator of all,
to you be praise and glory for ever.
As your dawn renews the face of the earth
bringing light and life to all creation,
may we rejoice in this day you have made;
as we wake refreshed from the depths of sleep,
open our eyes to behold your presence
and strengthen our hands to do your will,
that the world may rejoice and give you praise.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven – Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendour of fire,
Speed of lightening,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea
Stability if earth,
Firmness of rock
Anon. Traditional Scottish
Stand by us, Lord,
Give us peace,
courage and bright hopes,
This day and all our days
Amen

May God be a bright flame before me
Be a guiding star above me
Be a smooth path below me
Be a kindly shepherd behind me
Today, tomorrow and for ever
Amen

Prayers for the Evening
May this evening be holy, good and peaceful.
As our evening prayer rises before you, O God,
so may your mercy come down upon us
to cleanse our hearts
and set us free to sing your praise
now and for ever Amen
The Magnificat
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
he has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his name.
He has mercy on those who fear him, from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm and has scattered the proud in their conceit,
Casting down the mighty from their thrones and lifting up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel, to remember his promise of mercy,
The promise made to our ancestors, to Abraham and his children for ever.
The sacred Three
to save.
To shield
To surround,
The hearth, the house,
The household,
This eve,
This night
Oh! This eve,
This night,
And every night,
Each single night
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Love of God
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with us all ever more. Amen
Prayers for Night-time
If safe to do so light a candle and place it in a window
As quiet settles into our churches
We light a candle to remember
The light of Christ with us
In our hearts, in our homes, in our world.
Amen
The Lord Almighty grant us a quiet night and a perfect end
Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.
Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the world, we pray
That you with steadfast love, would keep
Your watch around us as we sleep.
From evil dreams defend our sight,
From fears and terrors of the night;
Tread under foot our deadly foe
That we no sinful thought may know.
O Father, that we ask be done
Through Jesus Christ, your only Son;
And Holy Spirt by whose breath
Our souls are raised to live from death.
Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy.
Sustain and support the anxious,
be with those who care for the sick,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may find comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen
